EXIF The
EXIF , Exchangeable image file format, system was created by
JEITA, Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association, in 1998 to be used for storing interchangeable information, metadata, especially in
JPEG and
TIFF image files,
WAV audio files and extended to
DCF image files for digital cameras.
EXIF is nothing more than metadata embedded in a photographic archive.
Metadata is a data information that provides information about other data.
Many distinct types of metadata exist: descriptive metadata, structural metadata, administrative metadata, reference metadata and statistical metadata.
During the development of this tutorial you will be aware of all the possibilities of working with
EXIF in image files.
